Ken Tomalty TruckingRick comes from a hard-working trucking family that has its roots with his great-grandfather in 1878, a lumberjack in Eastern Quebec. While growing up in the Ottawa Valley, Rick watched his father found and build Ken Tomalty & Sons Trucking, by serving local mills, hauling logs, woodchips, sawdust and lumber.

Instead of joining the family business, Rick attended  Carleton University and, upon graduation, embarked on a career in financial services. Over the past thirty years, his profession has equipped him with valuable insight into customer service, strategic planning and business management.

A friendship with the Siemens family (Kindersley Transport) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, ignited an idea of being involved in the transport business. That idea took root and held on. After moving back to Ontario, Rick and his brother Randy eventually started looking for an opportunity that fit with their skills and interests.

In early 2015, Rick, his wife, Carol, and Randy combined their complementary backgrounds and expertise to purchase the flatbed division of a highly respected, well-established trucking company – effectively creating Carric Freight Lines Ltd.

While maintaining his shared ownership of a boutique financial advisory firm in Kingston, Rick serves as president of Carric Freight Lines and puts his experience and support to work, helping the Carric Freight team meet and exceed the service needs of their customers.
